How To Do Facebook Marketing

This is a complicated subject broken down into 7 key principles. We’ve not been at a point like this since Google just started it’s Pay Per Click model and people started using it back in 2002-2004. Google then “slapped” everyone and made everyone jump through hoops in order to give them money. Ultimately, we have to assume that Facebook will do the same one day, but right now they want as many advertisers as possible and as much revenue as possible. (They have to justify that £100,000,000,000 valuation somehow!). Here are 7 things I just learned from Jonathan Budd’s webinar.

1.  Get a “Page”.

A lot of people still use groups to promote their business. Facebook is disbanding groups so any effort you put into it will be wasted. To create a page, go here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

2.  Get a reason for people to “Like” the page.

A lot of people do this with a video, or image promising some information or a free report or something. Then once they like the page, it redirects them to a different “tab” which contains that information. This is common, but not overused. It just looks like you are “doing it properly”. This is something we can help with if you want a hand.

3.  Become an Internet Celebrity

Everyone we see on TV, the news, radio or on stage we seem to view as an expert that has some sort of celebrity status. With more people using computers hooked up to their TV’s these days, you can have that same effect if you are creating video. If you don’t have any way to do this, learn or be left behind. We’re not a video production company, but we know people who are.

4.  Partner up with people

If you have a “reach” of 1000 people on Facebook (without ads) and you partner up with, say 5 other people who have about the same. Then you all promote each other’s products or services, you all of a sudden appear to your audience as “connected” and your reach just jumped to 5000 instantly.

5.  Do a “rule list”

If you are anything like me (unlucky) then you might not know when to update your business Facebook Page. What I recommend is writing a “rule list” which is a list of every occurrence that you will update your Facebook page. It’s a reminder to do it and a clear instruction. Create this list, print it out and stick it next to your computer.

6.  Try to get to 5000 friends as quickly as possible.

It’s not good for new people trying to add you but when people see the “This person has too many friends” message, it sends a psychological message to that person that you are in high demand and popular.

7.  Try to become friends with business celebrities in your area

If you can share some cool content, or tag someone in one of your posts, with perhaps a quote, or a picture of you using someone’s product they will leave you on their wall and for perhaps several days your post is being viewed by their entire audience!

8.  Use it!

We’re living in an unprecedented time where never before will you be able to reach this many people, this easily and for this cheap. Facebook will eventually change the rules and it’ll only ever become harder and harder to reach this number of people. Do SOMETHING about it and create your page. If you don’t know what to do next, and then ask us and we’ll help you out. It won’t cost you much and you’ll be set up for the future.
