Some Things I Use To Run Advantix

Here’s a post about some of the tools I use to run Advantix. These are almost all web-based tools but some are a little random. Anyway, Lets deeeww eeeett! Customer Database: We use our own software – shock horror! We use AddBook to store info about our customers and it works just as well now as we thought it would. It’s allowed us to be much better at marketing and sell more stuff which is almost always the goal. Use AddBook, we made it free to try with no time limit. www.AddBook.co.uk Sales Process: SignBase, since we built it hasRead the rest of this story…

Advantix: A Year In Review

It’s been a pretty wicked year for us at Advantix and I have a few “end of year” themed posts prepared to keep you readers happy over Christmas. I set out this year to launch both SignBase and AddBook, and win 2 more BusinessBrain customers. By the end of the year, I’d done all those things and more. We’ve shifted the businesses entirely to almost completely eradicate web design and stick to doing what we do best – Save people time. I’ve decided that our marketing mix is going to consist of 3 things: 1. Word of mouth, and aRead the rest of this story…

How To Leave Your Business For 2 Weeks And Your Customers Not Notice

I’m just about to vanish off the face of the planet for 2 weeks, ignore all calls and emails and wind up my entire customer base. Or am I? Over the last 3 years I’ve spent 4 and a half months abroad (18 weeks) and taken a 4 week break around September/October time and I’ve only ever had one issue… I was in Tenerife and got a call from the police that my flat got broken into and all my stuff stolen. I called my brother and instructed him to go over and secure the door (not that there wasRead the rest of this story…

A Free Gift: The Little Book Of Glory

I wrote this a while back. It’s a little PDF with 30 of the most useful tips I could share with you in a book you could read in under 5 minutes. I’m pretty sure at least one of those ideas could make you some more money by the end of the week. Enjoy Download Now

Parkinsons Law: Getting More Done In Less Time

Anyone know Parkinson’s law? Here it is in geek speak: “A task will expand directly in proportion with the time allotted to it” In English: If you’re told you have a week to clean the house, you’ll make the task so massive in your head that you never start it. It’ll also then take you a horribly long time. However, if you get a “You’ve got 60-minutes to clean the house” you will work out what things you need to do in order for the place to considered “clean”. The same thing applies to work, and outsourcing. At Advantix weRead the rest of this story…

I’ve had an interesting day…

Written Sunday 4th September I Woke up this morning with the intention of doing absolutely nothing. Good start for a Sunday. Thought to myself that I’d written 5 months worth of auto-responder content for our business automation service, it’s a crime for me not to be giving that to people who sign up to the Advantix email list. So I took a 40 page word doc of random nonsense that I wrote in Berlin and copied it into some seriously cool looking emails. Go to www.advantixgroup.com/start to see them. I listened to a webinar with some internet marketing bloke calledRead the rest of this story…

What Makes You Happy In life?

When you really think about it, what is it that makes you feel like you’ve had a good day? … and when you string a few of those together, a good week, and a good month? It just occurred to me what mine is so I thought I’d share it. When this is in place, I can have a shitty day at work (which is rare) and it doesn’t really matter, I still feel happy. Here we go: Food in the fridge Full, or close to full tank of petrol My desk clear My apartment tidy Progress with something ThatRead the rest of this story…

Happy Birthday!

Okay, so it’s not your Birthday, it’s mine… And I’m going to be 26, which Ben, at Sussex Music kindly reminded me, is actually closer to 52, than it is to zero. Thanks muppet! It also reminded me of when I was a kid… stay with me here. So when I was little, during the month of December, I had a pretty similar conversation with almost everyone I ran into. It went a bit like this: RandomKidFriend: “Happy Christmas Ads” LittleAds: “Happy Christmas to you too” Come birthday time, around 3 weeks later, the conversations would go like this: OnlyFriend:Read the rest of this story…

URGENT! Reply to this IMMEDIATELY!

Ever had an email with THAT in the subject line? We all get them… Thing is, what do you do about it? Personally, if someone sends me an ‘urgent’ EMAIL. I ignore it for at least 6 hours. Why? A number of reasons: 1. If it’s that urgent, they’d pick up the phone, which I ALWAYS answer. 2. People need to learn that everything is the new urgent thing. What happens, is this: Client emails an urgent email, (which isn’t urgent at all). You stop what you’re doing (their work) and respond to it. Then another client does the sameRead the rest of this story…

Writing About Something Makes You Better At It

Many years ago, when I was single, I wasn’t that into approaching random girls in the street or that into clubbing so I discovered Internet Dating. After a year or so, I’d got pretty damn good. Very consistent results and lots of happy people later, I decided to write a few ebooks to sell and pass on some things I discovered. During the time I was writing the books my results skyrocketed! More than I ever thought possible. This random occurance didn’t trigger any alarm bells at the time until now. When you write stuff down, it goes in yourRead the rest of this story…
